ABOUT PAUL WATERS ASSOCIATES

Experienced judgement. Dry, practical advice.

Paul Waters Associates specialises in assessing salespeople and helping organisations decide whether an impressive candidate is genuinely likely to sell.

A family business, established in 1981

Since 1993, Paul Waters Associates has represented Behavioral Sciences Research Press (BSRP)—the organisation behind the SPQ*GOLD sales test and the Career Styles Inventory (CSI) assessment.

That continuity gives clients more than access to a report. We understand how the tools should be applied and interpreted in real hiring situations, and provide direct advice in the context of the role, the available evidence and the commercial decision.

SPQ*GOLD is our primary tool for assessing whether a candidate is genuinely comfortable performing the activities required to sell. For senior sales and leadership appointments, CSI can be used alongside it to explore broader workplace, management and leadership preferences. Our approach is personal, independent and pay-as-you-go.

THE DIFFERENCE IS INTERPRETATION

What should concern you—and what should you ask next?

  • Clear concern areas
  • Targeted interview questions
  • Role-specific watch-fors
  • Onboarding priorities
  • Management and development actions
  • Direct access to experienced interpretation

REC BUSINESS PARTNER

Recognised within the recruitment industry

Paul Waters Associates is an official Business Partner of the Recruitment & Employment Confederation. SPQ*GOLD is also used by the REC in its own recruitment process, giving PWA a practical relationship with the body that represents and supports the UK recruitment industry.

Dominic Waters has contributed to REC Power Hours and has been invited onto REC’s Talking Recruitment podcast twice: to discuss avoiding costly recruiter mis-hires, and to explore AI, human judgement and the skills that distinguish high-performing recruiters.

Dominic Waters explains how recruiters help clients apply AI properly on REC Talking Recruitment

The aim is simple: improve the quality of the decision before the cost of a sales mismatch appears.
